John Cooper
John Cooper was born about 1824 in Tennessee, and died after 1886 in Marion County Arkansas. He married (1) Louisa. She was born about 1823 in Tennessee, He married (2) Susannah Dockery on September 6, 1869 in DeKalb County, Alabama. She was born about 1830 in Tennessee.
The Captain John Cooper who married Susannah (Dockery) Sizemore in DeKalb County, Alabama on September 6, 1869. This was in keeping with Jewish law as she was his widowed sister-in-law. They then moved to Arkansas. They may have kept their marriage secret in order not to complicate Susannah's window's pension on behalf of her deceased husband William Sizemore. The John Cooper of John Cooper Associates who bought land in S 10 T5s R4E (Sand Mountain) on October 9, 1852. If this is him, his middle initial is C. "Johnny Cooper married a Sizemore in Marion County, Tennessee" John Cooper was known in later life as a Baptist minister who, according to Steve Adkins, performed marriages for many of Ezekiel Adkins' children. John Cooper apparently served in the 3rd Arkansas Union Cavalry. It loos like he moved to Marion County, Arkansas between 1850 and 1860.
